Natural Ties is a program founded by a friend of mine that invites mentally disabled members of the community to the Washington
University Undergraduate Campus to enjoy a meal in the cafeteria every Monday evening. This is a wonderful opportunity for
these members to interact with other adults and students in the community.
The Brentwood Community Center has a number of different activies for children with Cerebral Palsy to get involved in.
I volunteer at the Center with the Dance and Movement class. When I am there I work one-on-one with a child with CP to help
him/her to move and participate in the activities with the class. I value this experience because I have made some friends
with the children and families and I love to see the smiling face of a child who just learned how to limbo!!
The most recent 2 Septembers (2006 & 2007) I volunteered at my mom's office for "Dentistry from the Heart Day."
This event provided over $100,000 of FREE dentistry to those who needed it. We are hoping to make this an annual event.
Pi Theta Epsilon is doing a gift wrapping service at Metro Homeless Center (Shalom House) for the ladies in the transitional
housing unit as well as an adopted family and members of the community.
